Anguilla is a small Caribbean island located between Puerto Rico and Montserrat. With a population of just over 15,000 people, Anguilla is the perfect place to get away and enjoy some much-needed relaxation time, but also to work. The island itself is only 26 kilometers long and 5 kilometers wide, yet the island is still well-developed. Popular economic sectors on the island include tourism, boat construction, and financial services.

Anguilla offers a Digital Nomad Visa, which is a reasonably easy process. The requirements are standard and there is no minimum monthly income requirement, as many nomad visas require. The turnaround time is also quite short compared to others; within 14 days you can receive your visa. After successfully acquiring the visa, you’re welcome to stay a maximum of 12 months, which is surely a solid amount of time to make sure you like the environment enough to stay (we know you will). 

Now for the part you’ve been waiting for – the wifi. Because the Caribbean has become an increasingly popular destination for digital nomads throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, they have definitely upped their internet connectivity and speed, especially the smaller islands. Though it is still in the process of improving, Anguilla has 2 high-speed internet carriers that cost approximately EC$250, or $90 USD per month. However, there are multiple cheaper options available at lower speeds, all depending on your preference. 

The Anguilla Lifestyle

The vibe of Anguilla is very much relaxed, so you can expect your work life to represent that. There are plenty of beaches, and many water sports to try out during your free time. Sailing, kayaking, snorkeling, and so many more are available at 90% of the 33 total beaches on the island. Not a fan of the watersports? Anguilla is also known for its golf, hiking, and horseback riding. 

As for when to plan your visit, it is recommended that you stay during the months of May to August. Because Anguilla is one of the less popular Caribbean islands, lodging prices and the overall cost of living won’t differentiate very much throughout the seasons. It is also highly recommended to avoid the months of June to November, as these months constitute hurricane season. These months are also considered the rainier season. Even though the island doesn’t get much rain even during this time of year, it’s still something to consider. As you can expect, Anguilla stays warm throughout the year, but obviously, gets extra hot during the summer months. If you plan to stay during the months of May to August, prepare for temperatures of at least 30°C, with the possibility of it reaching 39-40°C. That being said, however, the water will provide a soothing ocean breeze if it gets too hot.
